Welcome to St Bartholomew’s!

known as "the Cathedral of the Colne Valley"

We are a friendly group of Christians meeting regularly in this beautiful Parish Church, set in the lovely Pennine village of Marsden.

We would love you to join us in our worship and to take part, with us, in this spiritual journey of exploration of the Christian faith.

Fundraising at St Bartholomew's
Many thanks to all those who supported our 'Cafe with Stalls' on Marsden Cuckoo Day.  Despite attrocious weather we made a 'profit' of £944 - a small increase on the same event last year.  Thanks are due to all the organisers, bakers etc, all who spent the day in the kitchen and serving behind stalls, as well as to our visiting stallholders with their lovely products, and especially to you - our customers.
Our Table Top Sale on 8 June raised a further £192 for church funds.  Again the weather was dreadful, and we are grateful for the good humour and patience of our stallholders on the day.  Thanks also to all who supported and to all those working in the kitchen and behind the scenes.
Future Fundraising events:
Sun 14 July - Open Gardens Trail
See 'Events' for details
As our regular readers will know, we are now in interregnum (vacancy), following Revd Robin Townsend's retirement.  This is just to confirm that our services will continue at the sames times - 9.15am on Sundays and 9.30am on Tuesdays.  Getting a new priest is a lengthy process in the Church of England, but we hope you will take this opportunity to come along and hear other ministers preach the Christian Gospel.  We will have visits once a month from Revd Janet Sargent from St Peter's, Huddersfield and Revd Martin Lowles of St James' congregation, Slaithwaite.  Other visiting priests will officiate on other Sundays.

We are still supporting THE WELCOME CENTRE at the Methodist Mission in Huddersfield. This is a food bank for families in crisis that are referred to them by frontline professionals.

If you wish to contribute to the food bank's work there is a box at the back of church for your contributions. You can bring items any time the church is open - Sundays (9.00-10.30am), Tuesdays (9.15 -10.15am).

At present they are particular short of:

Tinned meat meals, tinned fish, tinned vegetarian foods, tinned corned beef/ham, stock cubes, dried mash, jam, jars of paste, instant noodles/rice/pasta, sugar, as well as toiletries, posts and pans and bedding.  For full current list see -

Thank you for your support.

From 2014, we are very grateful for the suppport of The Heritage Lottery (for our ongoing Marsden Remembers World War One Project) and The Listed Places of Worship Roof Repair Fund for repairs to the roofs over the aisles, vestries and Lady Chapel, and replacement of our rainwater goods.
