Welcome to St Bartholomew’s!

known as "the Cathedral of the Colne Valley"

We are a friendly group of Christians meeting regularly in this beautiful Parish Church, set in the lovely Pennine village of Marsden.

We would love you to join us in our worship and to take part, with us, in this spiritual journey of exploration of the Christian faith.

Sunday 27 January:  We will be joining our friends at the United Church (bottom of Peel Street) for their Service at 10.30am.  Please note amended time.
As our regular readers will know, we are now in interregnum (vacancy), following Revd Robin Townsend's retirement.  This is just to confirm that our services will continue at the sames times - 9.15am on Sundays and 9.30am on Tuesdays.  Getting a new priest is a lengthy process in the Church of England, but we hope you will take this opportunity to come along and hear other ministers preach the Christian Gospel.  We will have visits once a month from Revd Janet Sargent from St Peter's, Huddersfield and Revd Martin Lowles of St James' congregation, Slaithwaite.  Other visiting priests will officiate on other Sundays.
NEPAL: Many of you will remember that we supported the Schools and Orphanage run by Min Raj Dulal, in Katmandu, immediately after last year's earthquakes there. The people of Marsden very generously helped with the fundraising, and raised nearly £1,200 of the £1,797 we were able to send direct to Min Raj.
We are continuing to help Min Raj and his team of dedicated workers and have set up a MyDonate page to raise further funds; there is a small cost to the donor for their debit/credit card donation by MyDonate, but no other deductions are made by them, so we are able to send all donations on directly.
Nepal is a desperately poor country and even a small gift from you goes a long way in Nepal, so we hope that you will continue your generous support of these children.

We are still supporting THE WELCOME CENTRE at the Methodist Mission in Huddersfield. This is a food bank for families in crisis that are referred to them by frontline professionals.

If you wish to contribute to the food bank's work there is a box at the back of church for your contributions. You can bring items any time the church is open - Sundays (9.00-10.30am), Tuesdays (9.15 -10.15am).

At present they are particular short of:

Tinned meat meals, tinned fish, tinned vegetarian foods, tinned corned beef/ham, stock cubes, dried mash, jam, jars of paste, instant noodles/rice/pasta, sugar, as well as toiletries, posts and pans and bedding.  For full current list see -

Thank you for your support.
